Understanding the Scope of Being an Ultrasound Technologist
My pregnancy is one of the most exciting events in my life. I cannot wait for the day I can see, touch and smell my baby. As my tummy becomes bigger, the more I can feel the movements and the hiccups of my baby. At my 28th week, I and my husband decided to have an ultrasound. Moreover, we want to know our baby’s gender in preparation for my baby shower. It was so amazing to see my baby moving inside my womb. It’s a boy! We were so happy especially mu husband. After the session, I thought the person who did the ultrasound was an OB-gyne. She is called an Ultrasound Technologist or a sonographer but Ob-gyne can also do the ultrasound. Ultrasound careers are not limited to ob-gyne although it is commonly associated to them. There are sonographers which are specialized in doing ultrasound in various areas of our body. I was a bit anxious because I wanted an ob-gyne. But then, I was convinced that the result will be the same either a sonographer or ob-gyne performed the ultrasound.
