Temper Bead Welding
Wednesday, October 28th, 2009Usually when welding is done on the parent metal then certain coarseness and roughness comes into the parent with each pass of the weld. In the weld region a grain refinement and in the parent metal a grain coarseness takes place. This after effect can prove to be quite harmful for the metal in the long run. To avoid this withering of the metal piece and to prevent the coarse ness the temper bead welding technique is used. In the temper bead welding process the first layer of weld is done with small electrodes at a controlled temperature so that small grains are injected deep into the parent metal so that it does not become coarse. Unfortunately this process is complex and is only carried out during repairing of the metals.
