Travel Books
They say a book is worth a thousand pages…no wait. A picture book should be judged by it’s…shoot! A picture is worth a thousand words! That’s it. Now that that’s settled; nowhere is this more true than in travel books. Travel photography books have a special ability to not just spit thousands of words at you but to transport you to a time and place you heretofore never even knew existed. A world you wouldn’t even be able to imagine without glorious full color images of fantastical landscapes preprinted for the express purpose of blowing your mind. They can make you weep at the sight of childhood living conditions or giggle in delight at the bright colors of a culturally rich local festival. Most importantly they can open your eyes to the potential, not just of travel, but of interactions with the world around you. And any experience that can expand your horizons to such a degree without ever even asking you to take your feet off of the coffee table is surely with much, much more than a paltry thousand words.
