The acai berry is nice and healthy but you need to make sure that it is fresh without anything growing on it or in it. Different companies have come up with different ways to process and preserve the acai berries so that they can be transported for sale in other countries other than Brazil where most of the acai palm trees grow.
Before the acai berry can be transported anywhere in the world, it needs to be processed or frozen before it can be shipped to avoid rapid deterioration and microbial contamination.
This is a main problem for manufacturers wanting to make money with the acai berry.
