Heel pain in gout the Common misdiagnosis
Nowadays the most common problem in our society is the Gout. It is a common and most common that affects the first metatarsophalangeal joint (big toe) joint of the foot. It usually affects males at the over the age of 40. This condition affects any joint. But it can affect females as well. Gout can affect those under 40. However, when it is not the classical presentation of a male over 40 affecting the big toe, then the diagnosis can be more complicated and often gets late. Heel pain in gout is classic misdiagnosis. The most common cause of heel pain is plantar fasciitis which is an overload condition. Gout can affect the plantar fascia and mimic the symptoms of plantar fasciitis meaning an often delay in diagnosis.
